Hi Jim

I am also running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, and I get the same message at start up. I am also running a Sygate firewall and have been told that this message can safely be ignored. I usually just click on the cross at eth top right hand corner of the balloon which appears as the bottom of the screen and it goes away. You may also get a similar message up to tell you that you do not have any virus protection.

It appears that Windows only recognizes Microsoft firewall and virus protection. If you are using anything else it will give you this message at start up. It does say no the Security information that Windows XP does not recognise all firewalls and virus scanners.

Subject: [access-uk] Firewall not turned on.

HI,

I've just installed xp-home with service pack 2 on a new computer and I'm running the Sygate firewall. Sygate is on the task bar running in normal. However, Jaws is announcing that no firewall is present and my computer might be at risk. Is there a way of telling the computer that sygate is installed and I'm not using the XP firewall, which I have turned off?

Any advice gratefully received.
Jim
