Hi Barbra.

Unfortunately, the main interface isn't terribly accessible unless your
prepared to use the jaws cursor however the developers are working on a way to
make it usable to screen readers. Power Archiver 2006 was accessible, but from
2007 onwards accessibility has deteriorated considerably mainly due to the
recoding of the interface and the ability to customise it with skins etc to
make it more visually appealing. You can however access practically all
functions from pull down context menus, so in My Computer highlight a RAR or
ZIP or ISO or whatever and then press application key to see a raft of options
for decompressing etc. The same is true when compressing files, you can
compress individual files, groups or whole folders simply using the context
menus. This and the dozens of file formats supported plus the extremely
reasonable price considering the number of utilities you'd otherwise have to
own make it an extremely attractive proposition. It even has a CD burner so if
you get an ISO or other image of a CD or DVD off the internet, you can burn it
with a couple of keystrokes.

All the best, Ibrahim.

    Hi Barbra.

Rar is a compression type like zip. You'll need to extract the files using
a program like winrar or power archiver which is my preference as it handles
many dozens of different compression types including ISO and other cd images.
You can get a free trial from www.powerarchiver.com.

    All the best, Ibrahim.

Can anyone tell me what a .rar file/folder is and how I can open it?

      Thanks.
