HIAndrew and all.  Are you talking of the old keysoft interface?  I believe
you could have that happen with that, or ms dos could do same thing if a
link to word perfect was put in the bat file which it used to boot.

Hi Steve, Jim and Bob

Thanks. In this age of great software, I'm surprised that there's not a way
of booting up and being directly in an open file ready to go. I seem to
remember years ago I had a laptop that I would boot up and eventually it
would be in the same file as when I last closed it down.
