For Mandy who was requiring a more accessible version of Facebook, the best
thing to do is to use the mobile version of the site at
  http://m.facebook.com

This is very accessible and less cluttered than the conventional site. Most
of the links are self-explanatory, but you can update your status (letting
everyone know what you are doing), post on your wall (write something more
detailed), find friends, etc. You can customise your own profile once you have
an account, This version of the site also makes it easy to search for friends
and send them invitations. Have a try at it and see what you think, it is
surprisingly easy to use.
