Amro, I too would be interested once you find the price and also a means of purchasing here in the UK. John Wells.

Sure thing. Will do, but with corona and everything up the wall I hope
to be able to find out soon.

Cheers

I received the email too… I was hoping the price would be more reasonable as this thing uses mainstream hardware, Google glasses and, I guess, a mobile phone. Anyway, a short while ago I came across a similar product with the same functions called Amal Glasses produced by a company in Dubai. When they asked the representative in the video what makes your device stands out from other similar glasses for the blind in the market, he said the price. Those glasses have the same functionality but were produced for the Middle East and Easton markets, and we took in consideration the purchase power of those markets, he said.

I’m yet to investigate more this product, and I can report back when I do if anyone is interested, but in the meanwhile you can read about them on their website at

Apologies for cross-posting, but I have received this mailshot and thought those of you who perhaps don’t know anything about this product might find it interesting. The caveat is that this product starts at £2,695!

Kind regards,

    *Introducing Envision...*

    A combination of Google Glass 2 & Envision's award-winning A.I.

It is fair to say, the latest wearable to emerge from the Dutch technology company, Envision is something very special. We are delighted to announce Sight and Sound Technology will be the sole-distributor for Envision in the UK and Ireland, providing the Envision glasses, technical support, and training.

The Envision A.I. technology, currently available in the Envision app for iOS and Android, already enables thousands of users to independently access the world around them.

Like the app, the smart glasses use artificial intelligence to recognise the visual information it sees - speaking it aloud. This time, hands-free.

    *Turn text into speech*

Envision glasses can read all kinds of text from any surface in over 60 languages. The fast and the most accurate Optical Character Recognition (OCR), enables you to read street signs, handwritten cards and even your favourite book.

    *Know what is around you*

Envision glasses can describe scenes, detect colours and scan barcodes. Giving you information about what is in front of you and helping you choose the right dress and assisting you in picking the right products while shopping.

    *Find objects and recognise faces*

Ever lost your keys or had trouble finding a rubbish bin? SImply scan around with your glasses and it will find what you are looking for. Even your friends in a cafe or supermarket can be recognised once you have saved them in your Envision glasses.

*Conquer any task with video call*

If you ever feel you need a bit of extra help, you can always call upon your favourite human with Envision's video calling feature. You can also share contextual information, like your location, so they can help you in any situation.

    *A User's Perspective*

*Stuart Beveridge, assistive technology trainer at Seescape in Fife, tells us about his experience of using Envision Glasses. *

The main features that differentiate this product, in my opinion, are the excellent text recognition and the ability to video call.

The OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is the best I've ever used. The fact that it reads handwriting is amazing. I was sceptical of that feature at first but it works! I read a Christmas card on my own for the first time using the glasses this Christmas. I know that seems like a trivial thing but it really makes a difference, usually I'd have to bring it down to my Mum and ask her to read it. It's also great to be able to read confidential documents without having to ask anyone else for help.

The other feature is video calling, so you can get sighted assistance through the camera of your glasses. That is what really sets these glasses apart for me. I know there are other services out there but when you're a private person it's nice to be able to call one of your own contacts. I can call them directly from the glasses and they see everything that the glasses can see. I used it recently to organise my food cupboards with my sister's help.

I think the glasses will be really useful when I'm back using public transport again. I really struggle with knowing the numbers of the bus and when to stand out so I could easily have my Mum on the phone to ask her the number of the approaching bus. And the same with finding an empty seat on the bus.

The 'describe scene' feature has been really interesting. I use it when out walking with my guide dog - the glasses tell me there's a bench next to a tree in the park. It's lovely to find out what's around you as I'd never have known that before.

I used my phone so much before for reading text but the glasses give me a free hand when I'm out with my dog. Honestly, it's a life-changing piece of kit.

It's only your imagination that will limit you with this product!

    *Envision Special*

We’re starting out this year with something very exciting - a Webinar Wednesday special on Envision Glasses, the newest and one of the most exciting pieces of technology to hit our portfolio for quite some time. We’re collaborating with our friends and colleagues from the AT Social Hub, who have been busy presenting their own webinar on Envision AI.

Indeed we’re so excited about this, that we want to make sure you get to know all about it and have all your questions answered. Therefore, for our first Webinar Wednesday of the year, on January 13th, we’ve asked the Envision Magicians Karl Brealey from Sight and Sound technology and Stuart Beveridge from Seescape to join us and show us the magic.

This is an event not to be missed and we promise plenty of technical wizardry while we demonstrate all that this exciting new technology has to offer.

Please register for this session at the link below.
