well glenn, we'll watch this space with interest about you taking on another fulltime blind competent braillist. why didn't you pursue a strategy to advertise the vacant post at the time if you were so keen to not pay someone on an as and when basis thereby getting a post partially filled on the cheap! the phrase putting money where mouth is comes to mind here!

I have not found a suitable set of skills locally and so as it is important for me to have access to the very specific skills and knowledge that a blind person has I decided to use an associate who I know has an excellent reputation and high quality delivery skills.So, to try to wrap this up - S&ST has a policy of employing blind and VI people, that is what we are doing right now and in the long term I want more, not less people in my business with those skills.Unless anyone has missed it, the economic climate also governs what you spend your money on and when and the current arrangement seems to be working very well given all the objectives I need to meet.Jackie was brilliant and all the best to her, Jonathan is also brilliant and i am proud to have him working for us. Don't Sight & Sound have a service, well they did when Jackie worked there, where someone would come out and show you a Braille display, in that case, the person could try it with our phone and then you would know before purchasing it. There is a really nice man at Freedom Scientific who uses the Focus Blue all the time with his phone. I wrote to him too re the drivers but whether they do anything about it or not is anyone's guess.
