Thanks for that David. I think I will delete the stuff then. I don't think I'll need the back up software you mentioned because this is not the way I want to back up the drive and only want to add files as and when myself. But I am sure some others on the list might have found that info helpful.

Hi Barbara: You should be fine to delete the provided utilities. You might find Karen's Replicator a useful acquisition. Can't recall the URL. You can set up a backup at a given time on a given day. Also set it to backup from any directories on your main drive, to the backupdrive. It will then, after the first invocation, only copy across those since the previous replication. Should you miss the timed backup, a manual invocation can be initiated. Greathow he always seems to know what you want isn't it?I simply want to use this drive for copying and pasting files and folders. Idon't want to do all the fancy things I can do with it such as automatic syncing, using the Google search etc. When I plug in the drive there are some things preinstalled for doing these things. If I delete them from the drive making it completely empty, will it damage the function of the USBdrive in any way for simple saving and pasting of documents? Or does it not matter at all? Want to get rid of it as it is obviously using up space, butdon't want to cause any problems.
