I don't thinkit's any more hearing aid compatible than the Victor Reader Stream
is although the built-in speaker on the E10 far surpasses that of the Victor
Reader Stream.

I'm a little confused at "half the price" of the stream. I understand

the price 3 times including one post to Steve's private email address. I
received no answers.
Nor to my question as to if it is hearing aid compatible.

Hi Laz,
I probably won't buy many of them, since interest seems mainly in the E10.
We had good interest in the E10 though at Sight Village, as it does
almost all the Stream does at half the price, and does it just as
well, if not better.
Thank you so much for your experiences.

Sure Steve, The one EVO 5 that is sitting on my desk works fine as
well and shows no signs of any problems yet I had several returns from
folks who had problems with them. One lady in Canada had her friend
source a new battery for it and install it when the player started to
heat up and when the player was taken apart showed that the battery
was getting very bloated. That problem could have caused a fire. So
when a percentage of the customers who had purchased one started
reporting the same signs I just told them to return it and they
avoided any fire hazards from an expanding battery. One very nice lady
in Texas didn't return it and just said she would keep an eye on it
and I hope it didn't cause a fire which I don't think it did as she
never reported any other issues and I know she's still there. There
had been other issues like a jack or two not working, one built in mic
would not work, issues like some players just would not stop talking while
charging on the mains even after a f
irmware update, different charging cable and mains charger, etc.
But that and the fact that most blind folks just don't like microSD
cards due to losing them easily, was enough for me to not order any more EVO
5's.
Daniel later offered them to us as I stated earlier, for a
ridiculously low price but due to the experiences I had already had
with them I passed on the offer. The EVO 10 has not showed any such
issues so I'll keep selling those.
Like I said if you can get them cheaply enough that replacing a few
players here and there doesn't affect your business too much then I
wish you many sales my friend.

Hi Steve,
Yes, he's still trying to offload them. He offered them to us at a
ridiculously low price but I told my wife not to jump on the deal as
they didn't seem to be very reliable when we were selling them. Some
jacks broke too easily, a few batteries had started swelling, etc.
I guess if you got them at a very good price that you wouldn't mind
replacing a player here or there, then it's okay.

Hi Steve,
There's no new firmware for the EVO 5 as it's an abandoned player.
They've been working on a newer one than the EVO 10 but from what
I've heard from someone who received two of them it's not as good as
the EVO 10.
All I really know about it is that it uses a Type C plug for
charging/data transfer. There had been talk of changing the buttons
to somehting similar to the Victor Reader Stream/Trek but I don't
know if that's a part of the one they're working on or are probably
selling by now.

So far, with my testing, I like both players for what they do.
By the way, we do have them in stock now, so anyone at Sight
Village may come see them both, and even buy them at the show.
Finally Laz, if you want me to collaborate with you on string
translations, happy to do it.
The 2.1 firmware on the E10 corrects it from saying MicroSD card
instead of SD Card when you select it as a media item. Daniel at
Vin-Vision sent me the latest firmware for the E10.
There appears to be no new firmware for the E5 though.
All the best

Sure Steve, no worries.
I recall all the work that went into doing the translation which I
need to update due to several changes in the firmware since.
Every now and then someone decides it's not simple enough for a
parent for whom they've purchased it though. Ah, well.
Wishing you much success with it.

Hi Laz,
I don't have a proper manual yet, only a Chinese auto translated

They are both pretty simple to use though I'd say.
Thanks for your input too, much appreciated.

I've sold the EVO 5 and now the Evo 10 so am very familiar with them.
The EVO 10 is worth getting and is much better than the EVO5.
Compared to the Stream basically a better speaker, better voices,
a bit more work to put radio stations and podcasts on them as they
don't have a built in library, and no support for protected file
formats such as from Audible.com, etc. The EVO 5 uses microSD
cards and the 10 uses SD cards.
I'm sure Steve will offer some sort of manual as I had to for my
customers.

Hello everyone,
Our good friend Steve Nutt posted an update for computer room
Services telling us the new Evo E5 and E10 DAISY players are now
available.
How do these compare with the victor reader Stream? Having read
the description, I notice they have additional features, as well
as the long battery life between charges, as well as a lower price.
Also, both models support cards up to 32GB.
where can I find a more detailed description of these players and
is there a downloadable manual? Any help most appreciated.
Best wishes,
Clive Pallett
