Angie, all,
I guess it depends too on the usage one it going to get that determines whether
one gets ceertain devices on not.
So if for examplePDF is very important to you to be able to read and
bookmarking ettc is essential for you then why not buy the E12 or whatever
suits you.
Others here obviously use tech a lot more than I do so I'm happy with my set up
at present but of course am always open to change,
By the way I wasn't planted here by Steve or Jackie to ask questions of the
player so they can promote it more I assure you,☺

though do get the point about battery usage. When I go away, again, everything on one
device; my rule is: if it doesn’t fit my handbag it’s not coming. <smile>. I
used to be different but that was when there wasn’t the ability to have everything I
want on my phone.
As to the E12: I think some will like the FM radio as you can listen without
headphones in. I also like the speakers.

Hi Tony
I think it depends what you prefer using. I've been a long time user
of the VRS for my books and podcasts. I have the Alexa and Google
Home assistants as well, but I wouldn't listen to books on them,
though there is absolutely nothing wrong with that method if you
prefer. I like something portable and preferably with buttons.
There are lots of options out there now which is great. For me,
Alexa and Google are my radio and information buddies. My phone is
for calls, messages, Twitter, photos, FaceTime, WhatsApp and other
odds and sods. But I do like a player with buttons to listen to
podcasts and books rather than have everything on the one device that
would flatten the battery in no time. So it's a fair question that
doesn't have a straightforward answer. 😊
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Hi Jackie and all,
I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade I assure you but why are these
players so special.
Surely we can get all internet stations on Alexa or otherwise online.
Alexa is perfectly fine for all radio and when hooked up to speakers is even
better if you wish that.
I get most of my books now on EasyReader and as I said earlier Alexa.
Sorry if I'm missing anything here.
Steve, yourself and this list is doing a great job keeping us all informed at
all times.
For recording by the way I use an Olympus.

To be honest, DAB can be very hit or miss for lots of people, and Internet
radio does have a better sound unless you live in a gargle-free zone? I have
added some stations I like from the Netherlands, and you can't do that on DAB
so it's not an issue for me.
It is a very nice player and has quite a lot going for it. Yes there are some
things that need sorting out, but half the battle is getting the manufacturer
to listen to feedback, and I think they do from what I've heard.

Hey Jackie, you can add this device as a fisher price toy be it more expensive.
Also why not these days does it not have digital radio on it?

Hi Clivean
I agree with your comments. I think the buttons are quite close
together, even with tactile markings, and may cause a problem for
those whose finger sensitivity is not as it could be. You do get
used to it though, but something worth noting. I also agree with
you about the aerial and the radio not having a stand or stable bottom.
For those who know it, the Pure Move radio is very similar in size
to the Evo12, it really does feel like a radio when you first take
it out of the box. The sound is really good, and there are
multiple voices to choose from. The one thing I really don't like
about it though is the alphanumeric system it uses. I thought I
was playing with my little grandson Ezra when inputting letters, A
for Apple, B for Banana, C for Cat, D for Dog, E for Egg, etc. Come on, that's
just plain daft!
When you enter the letter S, it confusingly says See or Sea, which
makes you wonder for a split second if you entered a letter C.
That definitely needs to be modified,
d sped up as well.** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:-
I have been figuring out how to play podcasts and Internet radio stations, and
have quite a few stored now. You can either search by entering letters and
digits to find what you want, or you can search by country, genre, etc. I had
great difficulty finding the space to separate words, but Steve solved that
one, you don't use 0 as you would on the VRS, you tap number 1, then arrow
right once.
So once you search for a podcast or station, you can add it to your Favourites
list by pressing the menu key, or stream it live. Let me tell you that there
are literally hundreds you can look for in comparison to OoTunes on the VRS.
I'll do my best to help with queries, I'm still learning and playing myself.
Kind regards,
Jackie Brown

Subject: [access-uk] Evo E12 - a great product!
Hello everyone,
I took delivery yesterday of my Evo E12 and I am very pleased with it. I soon
had it connected to our wifi network, manually entering the password.
The FM radio reception is excellent and I now have it tuned to our local BBC
radio station. The sound is superb through its stereo speakers. I have
noticed it doesn't stand up very well on its bottom edge and has to be leant
against something to stop it falling over. This is necessary when using the FM
radio which needs the aerial extended.
One thing to note: The buttons are quite small and close together. The dots
help, especially the two dots on the 5 button, and it is easy to press the
wrong one until you are used to the layout.
Having come from the Victor Reader Stream which has internet radio playlists
and podcast feeds, how is this done on the Evo E12? Any help with this is most
appreciated.
Best wishes,
Clive Pallett
