Hi Mandy.
I hope I can offer a useful perspective here as a totally blind person. When I
was working with the RNIB, I got to see and play with the Orcam glasses.
Whilst they are undoubtedly a good product for those who want a solution that
doesn't require an internet connection and simplest to use if you aren't
capable of using or don't want to use a smartphone, my personal opinion is that
the Orcam mainly benefits those who have had some vision in the past or who may
need help with supplementing their deteriorating vision. For me, apps like
Envision give me more accurate results and they are more expandable with the
range of features they can offer. Orcam does require that you can focus or at
least hold your head steady whilst looking at the item in question whilst the
smartphone options like envision give you the flexibility to mount your
smartphone in a stand or mount if you are unable to hold your phone steady.
Over time, have learned to take accurate snaps of documents using the
directional instructions you get from such apps.
Hope this helps with your purchasing decision.

Subject: [access-uk] Envision or Orcam?
Today Brian and I had a demonstration of Orcam and Envision. Someone fromSight
and Soundcame to show us.
We mainlhy looked at Ocvam because it appeals to me that you don't have to use
the phone with it and I also prefer the voice.
I am interested to know which is best, the guy who came said they are equally
as good but he is not a blind person.
What do you think Steve as someone who sells and has used both?
Mandy.
