I receive official letters with glaring mistakes that my former employers
would have been horrified about and would never have let go out.
It's interesting how the spelling of words and grammar has changed during my
lifetime. When I was at school, words like realise would use a z rather than
an s but now you rarely see words which use the letter z.
Also the style in which letters go out has changed dramatically, most just
indicating a paragraph by using an extra line rather than indenting the
line.
Whilst we're talking about paragraphs, my Creative Tutor tells me that MS
Word offers me a choice of paragraph styles and the one she'd prefer me to
use is where the first line in the piece is against the lefthand margin but
all subsequent paragraphs should have a blank line and be indented. I've
looked at the paragraph options but can't identify the style she is talking
about. Does anyone else know?
