Steve and all. on the apple tv front, it's true that it doesn't do freeview
but it does do some live tv - TVNow offers some live channels along with other
news channels etc.. I have not personally tried bbc iplayer using it but
wouldn't be surprised if there was a live feed per channel.
In any event, because of the new format of apple tv that allows for the
creation and downloading of apps, i suspect we will see significantly more
streamed live stuff appearing on the platform.

Yes, Apple TV is a bit of a misnoma, because it doesn't pick up terrestrial
TV at all. It's only Netflix, Youtube and other services. Android TV is
the same though, lest people think I am hitting on Apple. <Smile>.

I haven't subscribed to Sky now for a long time, I just don't have
the time to watch football, and tend to listen to some of it free on
the radio. We still use our Sky HD box though for free channels, but
the Sky Plus app doesn't allow you to record because you need to
subscribe to a package for that to work. Thank goodness for TVonics
then which we use when we want to record a documentary or something.

Sky have really got away with not providing accessibility on their
boxes unless you can use one of the apps. I personally think Ofcom
should have come down on them and other providers like Virgin Media
really hard given what they charge people. Still, a rant for
another time and place! (smile.)
