Hi.

Its also worth mentioning that newer samsung series 7, 8, and 9 televisions have improved a lot when it comes to voice guidance. Talking to the RNIB a few weeks ago, they reckon the televisions now read out everything, EPG, recording names, etc.

cheers,

Mo.

Hello John,

Using your PC, if you go to the Sky web site and take their accessibility
links there is quite a lot of information there.

This includes an accessible TV guide which also allows for a remote record
link to be sent to your Sky+ unit.

It is a little messy and takes a bit of effort to get it to work, but it can
be done.

There used to be one for around #70 called Sky Talker, but I don't know if
it is still available.  It only speaks channel names, there is no EPG
available.
Sky have really got away with not providing accessibility on their boxes
unless you can use one of the apps.  I personally think Ofcom should have
come down on them and other providers like Virgin Media really hard given
what they charge people.  Still, a rant for another time and place! (smile.)

Hi andy. We still sell the tvonics set top boxes with speech. Everything
on screen is read out. You can also record and pause live tv. Recording
names are read out and audio description is also recorded. Please feel free
to drop me a note off list and I would be more than happy to have a chat
with you to see if the boxes are right for you. These only work with
freeview, not sky.

Is where you will find us.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

All the best,

Mo.

Hi all.
Thinking of getting one of those talking Sky boxes. I'm really struggling
with my standard box and although I've not watched TV for over 20 years, it
would be nice to check out the audio described movies and of course, good
old 5 live and 6 music.
Can anyone tell me what they are called, the cost and where I can purchase
or find out more.  I tried the RNIB but could not find anything on their
rubbish website shop that sounded like what I was looking for.
Any advice very welcome.
Andy.
