I am surprised that Colin Felt the need to inform the list of the finishing
support for dropbox on windows XP as anyone who has dropbox running on windows
XP has been informed of this by the dropbox team.

well don't even bother with Vista, that is total bloat( and long dead
anyway), alternatives?hmm depends on your budget, accessability requiremtns
and so forth.( interesting how dropbox only mentions windows versions and not
alternative operating systems(linux anyone??))
if you really must go the windows route, then you could of course join the
insider program for windows 10 and I think(although I could be wrong here )
you might ultimatetly qualify for a free upgrade to the official release
version of windows 10 however you will have to be pretty quick on the draw as
the free upgrade program ands in about 3 months time, after which the only
route to a brand spanking new windows 10 will be either a retail copy which
you will have to buy, or a brand new compuuter with Windows 10 pre installed.
In the first scenario you would have to determine if your current computer
will run Windows 10. whichever option you choose it is a very good idea to
back up any important documents you have on your system so that you dont lose
them.

Greetings,
Guilty as charged, see below, hope it is of use to some.
We noticed you're running the Dropbox desktop application (client) on
Windows XP. We're writing to let you know, as of August 29th, 2016, Dropbox
will no longer support this version of Windows. You can find which devices
connected to your account are running Windows XP by visiting your account
page.
Don't worry — your files and photos aren't going anywhere! But you'll need
to update your computer to Windows Vista or later to access them through the
Dropbox desktop application. You can find instructions on how to update your
operating system on Microsoft’s website.
If you don't want to update your operating system, your files will still be
available through the Dropbox website. However, on August 29th, you'll be
signed out of your Dropbox account on your computer and the Dropbox desktop
application will no longer be accessible.
We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. For more information,
please see our Help Center.
Sincerely,
- The Dropbox Team
