Hi again.

Just to let you know I have now sorted out my problem. I completely deleted my
account and started again, and now all seems ok.

Just one more query, do my messages automatically download, as at the moment
they only seem to appear once I load the e-mail from the home screen.

Cheers.

Sharon

Hi Sharon.

OK, a few things you can try. Firstly, you may need to set your SMTP server’s
settings to authenticated. The SMTP server is the server that handles delivery
of mail and you’ll be able to access the settings for it in the mail, contacts
and calendar settings screen, possibly under the advanced mail settings.
Unfortunately because I use Hotmail on my IPhone, most of this is all handled
automatically, but if you’re struggling then I’d be happy to give you a ring
and talk you through what you need to do. If this is something you’d like to
do, send me an email privately at ibrahim_gucukoglu@xxxxxxxx with a landline
phone number and I’ll ring you at a convenient time.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi, and many thanks for taking the time to assist me.

I’ve got this account set up on my phone, which is a pop account. It’s my
current address, sharon.bowell1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have managed to get some mail through, but not a lot, and I did try to send a
message which won’t go through it is reporting an error on the server.

I’m not sure if I need to change a setting or quite where I need to go.

Please let me know if you need further information.

Sharon

Hi Sharon.

How email is handled on the IPhone depends on how your email is fetched as in
the protocol being used. Can I ask which email account you’ve set up on your
IPhone? Also, the mode of connection IE IMAP, POP etc.?

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi,

Could someone kindly give me a bit of help using the e-mail facility on my
I-phone.

I’ve set up my account all fine, but my messages seem to take ages to download
to my phone, and sometimes I seem to have messages on my computer that have not
appeared on my phone.

Also could someone explain the fetch new data item in the mail settings.

Any other tips on using the mail program would be appreciated, as to be honest
I’ve only just tried it, now I feel I’ve a better knowledge of my phone.

Many thanks.

Sharon
