believed it to be a distraction. Which is proven to be the truth with those
who text and drive these days. Doing this made it easier to interact with
the family when we drove together. I also remember sharing a school bus with
children with various physical challenges. When there were no power assisted
wheel chairs. I use to Indian wrestle with them. Though they were years
younger than was I, they could always win the contests. Because of the
strength in their arms. When we used manual typewriters, we not only had to
memorize where we left off if we were interrupted when writing, which
assisted with the development of our memories, but, we actually had to learn
to properly spell. Else, we might never have made it to college. I still
use the slate and stylus to Braille. I also employ it to print notes to my
family. By the way, should you be interested, I purchased some years ago the
"fisher space pen".

The reason for this purchase was this: The "fisher space pen" writes under
all conditions, It writes on walls, and underwater, and when held at any
angle. Its cartridge writes three times longer than normal cartridges, and
never fails to write. This last feature serves us blind people well. As the
most difficult thing for me when writing is to know when my pen might
suddenly stop writing. I think it was the main reason I purchased the pen in
the first place. Its cartridges last, unopened for a period of 100 years.
So one can purchase a few when first making the purchase, and never purchase
any others. In many ways, we were far better off without these modern
conveniences. Which only serve to dumb down the population. There are even
those who say this dumbing down is deliberate. By encouraging people to use
168 characters and an equivalent amount of characters when tweeting. The
effect of which is seen in the writing of children these days. When they
attempt to employ abriviations they use when texting, and tweeting. When
they write their school assignments.

If you take that argument further, you might say that modern central heating
is for people who are too fat and lazy to chop wood and build a fire.
Granted, modern technology can make people fat and lazy, but it is
convenient and allows people to use everyday things, such as dictating to an
iPhone when the alternative is not to use a smartphone at all as a friend of
mine does. Also modern technology allows us to get on with more enjoyable
or important things.

had this device not been discussed here, on this list I would have been
none the wiser about this option. The thread has encouraged me to get
one as it will be another alternative for me to have at my disposal.
I frequently am not so interested in many of the threads that have
appeared on this list as they are not for me, I therefore have found
that locating, and then hitting the delete key is a quick, effective and
simple process to master.
