You don't actually need to delete the app when it freezes. You can close it
from the App Switcher.

I don't use it for precisely that reason. Once I set my Echo and Dot up, I
reverted to the website to add skills. The app for me kept sticking or
throwing me out, it drove me round the bend to be honest.
