Hello again Alasdir,

I've just tried your fix/mini program for getting to the essentials of the BBC Iplayer andit works a treat. It will be a valuable asset, even in its current basic incarnation, to your WebbIE suite. thanks for the effort and time involved

John.

P.S.: I would have let you know earlier but I've just been enjoying Monday's Mastermind, which I missed at the time.

OK, I've hacked a simple Accessible iPlayer:
http://download.webbie.org.uk/test/BBCIPlayerOnline.exe

No install, just download and/or run.
Opens with a text input box. Type the programme name, e.g. "Ashes to
Ashes" and hit return.
You are then placed in a list of the results. Select the one you want
with up and down and hit return.
It'll start playing the programme after several seconds. You can tab around the Flash player now if you want with your screenreader: there
is a pause and volume control, don't know if they work.

Limitations: search results aren't sorted alphabetically, if no results are found you don't get informed, you can't pause or stop the programme, and you have to quit and restart the programme if you want
to search again after having started a programme.

Needs a catalogue list, really, but that means parsing the BBC webpages. I've pretty much done this before but they've changed the
site so I have to recode.

Cheers,
Alasdair

 Hello Gordon,

That's interesting. Where exactly is this button, because my screenreader (JAWS 7.1) hasn't found it for me. I've got all of the Flash, Media Player 10, etc, and only wish to stream
and not download these very large files.

I can find nowhere to get any program streaming started,
although sighted friends tell me that there is some form of
 graphic you have to locate.

 John.
