Carol, I don't know if it's just my machine, but I've not noticed any degradable performance if the swap file wasn't defragmented. I have 512 MB of RAM, and my computer runs pretty fast to how it was when I had 256 MB of RAM, which was the original amount that came with my computer. As I say this could be my machine, but I don't think swap file fragmentation has anything to do with general performance, but who knows. Chris Hallsworth Why not join my Blind Hobbyist mailing list! I got rather confused as to which is best and would be interested in comments from folk as to which they're using and whether I need to think of purchasing one of the other versions for ultimate satisfaction. For example, Steve said something about the swap file and suggested that only one version could actually defrag this file. I'd be interested in any discussion as to the importance of being able to do this . . .. I'm about to start using the trial (once I've plugged in my new hard external drive, which I'm getting later today . . . so I'm looking for more comments on these things, please folks. Also, I've not been able to find anything about prices for the various versions. This information would also be helpful. -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: "Douglas Harrison" <harrison1d@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, August 09, 2007 8:26 PM Subject: [access-uk] Diskeeper > Just a postscript to the two recent threads on this subject. > > Having downloaded the 30 day trial version I installed it this morning on > my > Toshiba laptop and chose the option not to have it run automatically - > preferring to try defragmenting a partition first.
