Douglas, you're almost there! Go back into your mouse, hardware and sounds screen, shift control tab once, and uncheck that "use touch pad" check box. Press enter, and see if your touch pad has indeed been turned off. What I do to confirm is to press one of the touch pad buttons to see if JAWS responds with "context menu", or whatever. Good luck!

Thanks for coming back on this one, Chris - I am still stuck, despite DolphinTech Support trying to help over the phone. Presumably we are talking about the item in Control Panel labelled "Mouse Hardware and Sound". I seem to have only five Property Sheets, Buttons, Pointers, Pointer Options, Hardware, and Advanced, after which I return to Buttons. Shift, Control and Tab takesme to the Advanced sheet. Which sheet should contain the "use Touch Pad etc. item?By the way this is the Business edition of Vista - I believe that I have readthat the five editions differe significantly in their Control Panels. Any further comments would be most welcome - I hope that I am not missing something obvious, Douglas On 27 Nov 2007 at 18:27, Chris Hallsworth wrote:Ok Doug. On my Vista laptop, to turn off my touchpad I have to do the following: 1. Start 2. Control Panel 3. Mouse 4. Shift control tab to other page. 5. Uncheck the "use touchpad and/or PS/2 mouse" check box. 6. Press enter. Hope that helps.-- Douglas Harrison ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
