Hi Mark,

DirectX is NOT a Critical Update. On the left hand side of the Windows
Update screen, you should find links as follows:-

Welcome
Pick Updates to install
Critical Updates and Service Packs (0)
Windows XP (#)
Driver Updates (#)

Where there is a zero in brackets, it means there is nothing to install.
However I suspect you will find that "Windows XP" will show a figure.
Select that link, and the list will now show what you require.

George.

Well - just done a scan, and it says there are no critical updates
available. It did however find the usual updates that could be
installed, but obviously aren't essential for security etc. It says to
pick a category in the list, but I can't seem to find a list to choose
from.

Cheers,

Mark

I'd say, yeah, if an application requests that you need to update
directX in any way you can do that. i think going over the windows
update website, having your PC scanned will probably come up with the
suggestion of installing the latest direct X componant. otherwise, i
shouldn't worry about updating in anticipation.
