Hi Jim,

What kind of photography are you intending to do? I take it won't be
sports photography!

How responsive will the camera need to be? Have you ever tried taking a
picture from a moving vehicle? compact camera's are so slow, you might
as well forget it.

Could you cope with an SLR? as there controls are usually much easier to
use and have a nice big view finder if you are able to use it, as well
as a big screen. The Canon 450D has a screen which works just like the
compact camera's, so no need to use the view finder if you so wish.

Cheers

Dave

Well Jim, it depends on how good your sight is, but perhaps have a look
at the Sony range. Many sighted people like them. Their Sybershots come
with quite a few auto features such as auto focus, target finder, light
adjustment, smile shutter, noise reduction, super steady shot etc. These
features are supposed to help novice photographers to take photos with a
better quality. Mind you though, most of the Sony's are operated through
a touch screen. But the screen on the Cybershot models is usually 2.7 or
3.0 inches which's a decent size for a digital camera.

HTH,
Amro
