Hi Phil

I definitely wouldn't recommend the N95 internal GPS. Ian uses the Hollux 1000
external receiver with his phone, and it's really quick at getting a fix. The
built-in version on the N95 is slow and nowhere near as responsive.

That's v interesting re the gps as yes one of the reasons I was going for the
N95 was because it had inbuilt gps which I was thinking of using with Wayfinder
myself and in the car instead of our rather antiquated satnav. If a separate
gps receiver really is the best option then I may rethink and look at the n81 /
n82, I definitely want wlan connection and decent mp3 playback...more searching
then I guess?!

You can stretch it a bit if you turn off the wi-fi scanning and the
bluetooth, neither of which are a problem to re-activate if you need. The
wi-fi scanning is no loss you can still use wi-fi with when it is turned off if
you know you are in range of a network you have details to log onto. The GPS
is another battery guzzler, if you plan to use GPS seriously you would probably
be better off with an external bluetooth unit anyway.

Hmm, thanks for that Tristram, as I know battery life is an issue then looks
like I'll have to consider biting the bullet and going for the 8gb version...as
well as maybe an additional battery...thanks.

  Phil

Better battery in the 8GB model as well, every N95 original "classic" model
will tell you the battery is not powerful enough for the electronics. They put
that right withthe newer 8GB model.

  Hi,

It's time to to upgrade my mobile and I would really like to go for an N95 -
could someone please tell me if the only difference between the 8gb internal
flash memory and the one with expandable memory slot that uses mini SD cards is
the size of the memory? If not, what are the other key differences?

  Cheers,

  Phil
