Thanks Jonathan, I'll read this and see what happens. It just irritates me
that I have two accounts on my Nexus, an old one I can't get into to delete,
and the new one I have created which I want to retain of course. Getting
rid of it via Gmail on my PC doesn't let me in, and I don't know my way
around Gmail on the Nexus to know if it's just the same thing.

Kind regards,

Ahhhh! NOw I understand! So it's not the account itself that needs
deleting, it's the link to the account on the Nexus 7.
Completely different thing to what I was thinking!

In which case typing the following into google:

"remove gmail account nexus 7" brought me to this page about adding
and removing accounts:

https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2840815?hl=en-GB

You might also want to read this page about selective sync:

https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2840875?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=3416294

Does that help?
