which talk about recovering data if the mechanics of the drive are still

There are company who claim do recovery, no fee.
Probably best to start counting your losses.

I damage an external hard drive whilst it was actually transferring data, it
fell on the floor.
I am getting quotes' of hundreds of pounds from data recovery companies.
I can't even bring the hard drive up up on the computer it is so dead.
Any thoughts guys, can today get worse?
