Hi Christine.Yes. This is why it's shareware; you can try it out before buying it. I think it's the best $40 you'll spend though. I've tried it myself and the audio I get from the DVDs extracted is the same quality to my ears as the original DVD. I haven't bought it yet simply because I don't extract enough DVDs to make me want to buy it.Hope this helps.
