Hi Derek
I loved it too, at the time. And yes, I had the Guardian Electronic
Newspaper, and the ability to use Teletext on it. Before that, I had the
BBC Master, and a BBC Micro before that. At the time of using the BBC, I
worked as a PA to the Area Organiser in a Social Work Department. I kept
filling up the BBC's memory, so some idiot from the then Manpower Services
Commission decided to send somebody out to see if they could insert what
they called a sideways RAM board into the machine to give me a bit more
memory. Well I went on holiday and thought no more about it. One night, my
boss rang me and said: "There's been a man in your office today tinkering
about with your BBC, and you know what? There was smoke coming out of it."
Basically he blew it up, so that's when they got me a Master 128 which I
also outgrew very quickly. I'll never forget that as long as I live.
Yes, them were the days!!
It was all great, but I am glad to be using what we have available now
despite all the hassles and anomalies it throws up.
Kind Regards,
Jackie Brown
