Hi,

To be fair though, it sounds like it's Apple's fault, not Humanware's.
Familiar story that.

All the best

Steve

Hi  George
The problem  is,  they  stopped  what did work,  and now we seem to have  a
new way  that has problems!

So not much further forward.

Regards,  Derek

Well, there you go Derek.  Left and right - East and West.  Quite a
different story!

Hi George
Humanware say:

"The product you refer to is an App that has been developed on our behalf,
and available on the app store to download on to an IOS device, that's to
say specifically an Apple iPhone or Apple iPad which a sighted person uses
to type on. It is another method of face-to-face communication.
However
it has been brought to our attention that since a recent IOS update the app
is not working  as smoothly as we would like and we are now dependent on the
third party app developer making some improvements or we will be faced with
having to remove it from the app store.

These discussions are on-going and I will try and get an update as soon s
possible."

Hi Derek,

You can play this a number of ways.

You can e-mail their head office, and simply say that you have seen it on
their web page at [URL] and ask if it is still available.  That would be my
own first choice.

Or, you could say that as you have been told by a member of the UK staff
that it is no longer available, and as it is on their web page at [URl],
does this mean it is not being sold in the UK, or what?

George.

Hi George
What I said in first email on this thread,  is what I was told, by the UK
General  manager.
I  quote:

"Regarding the DBC,  as we are unable to source the component parts anymore,
very reluctantly we have had to recently discontinue the DBC."

Derek,

Why not e-mail the Humanware address given in that web page
(info@xxxxxxxxxxxxx) and ask them?

George.

Strangely  this link

ions/apex_communicator_package

Seems to  be what I was looking for.
Strange that Humanware told me  not available.

The General  manager UK, Human ware,  just made me aware
that   as  Humanware  unable to source the component parts anymore,
very reluctantly  they have had to recently discontinue the DBC.

So what is  or was DBC?

The package  consisted of a Braille note,  a mobile phone and key chat
software, on the Braille note.

The benefits for deafblind Braille users were:

Use Braille  for the sending and  receiving of text  messages.

using the mobile phone,  the deafblind user was  able to communicate with
hearing  people face to face.
The  hearing person  uses  the mobile phone  and the deafblind person would
read, (on Braille note)  what the hearing person types in, on the mobile.

As this  is not texting,  no text  allowance  is  used. So the deafblind
person doesn't  need to give out  his or her number,  for face to  face
chat.
