Hi Jackie,

For many people, the update did not appear straight away because Microsoft
introduced it as a phased rollout.

To release it to everyone at once would have considerably strained their
servers, though they did offer a couple of ways to download it straight away as
you mention being either the Media Creation Tool and the Upgrade Assistant.

Cheers,
Martin

My friend sent me a file the other week, and I used it to update my machines
without difficulty.  Given the big hype Microsoft generated over the
Anniversary Edition, it never appeared automatically for us, so we just decided
to get it over with.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown

Hi Alistair,

One way to check your version of Windows is to select the start
button,
type 'winver' without quotes and hit enter. 'Winver' stands for  Windows
Version, just so you know.

A dialog box will appear confirming the version, build, year of build
and
copyright text. It should confirm that it is Windows 10. Click OK to exit the
dialog.

Cortana is available from the keyboard by clicking the start button
and
typing or by saying "Hey Cortana" with a microphone. If there is no sign of it,
try the following link for more info on how to turn it on:-

Cheers
