Hi, For accessibility, I use a Tefal ActiFry cooker, they are fantastic, there is an on/off button and time is in increments of 1 minute... Steaks cook in about 15-20 minutes for very well done and are super tender.... It can however be used for almost anything, sausage rolls in 7 minutes, bacon in 15 etc etc. It uses no oil, or very little if cooking fresh chips.. Baked potatoes in 40 minutes. Regarding the ham, cook it in full Coke, or beer, removes the salty taste from it... That's all the cooking help for today!! :D Mike -----Original Message----- From: access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David W Wood Sent: 21 October 2013 12:58 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Cooking Hi Richard I use a Prestige pressure cooker and slow cookers from both Morphy Richards and Russell Hobbs. The slow cookers I find to be much better for cooking hams as the salt seems to dissipate better than when cooked in the pressure cooker. Preparation prior to cooking being the same in each case. The important thing with a pressure cooker is to adhere to the instructions to reduce pressure prior to opening it. Mine is quite old, but still functional, and I gather that the more modern models have extra safety aspects built in. Vegetables seem to be better in a pressure cooker, and easier to control them to be Al Dente. I tend to use the slow cookers rather more as I have other things which I prefer to do rather than stand in front of a stove! Does anyone use a pressure cooker? If so, a recommendation on any VI friendly hardware will be greatly appreciated. I listened in to The Food Programme a couple of weeks ago on Radio 4 and the topic was slow and pressure cookers. I have aslow cooker which I love but I really didn't realise the benefits of cooking under pressure! not only for speed but fuel efficiency, we all know gas is not getting any cheaper so time limited on my hob sounds like a bonus! Secondly, some VI friendly recipe websites/blog recommendations would also be very welcomed. Thank you. Enjoying the banter.
