Or, if it's something like a 90-minute drama running to two sides of a
cassette, I use Goldwave to merge the two into one. So it works both ways
with the merging and splitting tasks. I wrote a piece on the BCAB wesite on
this subject. If you want to fire specific questions about using goldwave to
convert cassettes to MP3, feel free to give me a yell off-list.

To add to what everyone else has said, I have used Goldwave to convert
hundreds of tapes. I save each side to a separate MP3 file and then use
Goldwave or MP3 Direct Cut to split the book into chapters.
