It doesn't sound like you are onto a winner here. HDMI is a digital
standard and therefore without some intermediary box of tricks you are
not going to get that to interface if what you have on the laptop is
HDMI out and analogue SCART input on the TV. Some TVs and laptops share
an S video connector in common, that would be the most likely way
through but not all laptops have these. It is also possible to do S
video to SCART if you have that combination.

This sort of issue doesn't come up with modern TVs because they either
have HDMI or they have a dedicate 15 way VGA port on them for this very
purpose.

Subject: [access-uk] Connecting pc to tv

Hi

I need to connect the laptop to the tv, I am after a cable
which goes from the monitor port on the laptop and to the
scart connecter on the tv, I've been told this is a hdmi
cable, are there different types and where's the best place
to get them.

I normally use play.com, they have some hemi cables there,
could someone help me select the correct cable as there are
several different ones there.

Regards

Adrien
