It doesn't sound like you are onto a winner here. HDMI is a digital standard and therefore without some intermediary box of tricks you are not going to get that to interface if what you have on the laptop is HDMI out and analogue SCART input on the TV. Some TVs and laptops share an S video connector in common, that would be the most likely way through but not all laptops have these. It is also possible to do S video to SCART if you have that combination. This sort of issue doesn't come up with modern TVs because they either have HDMI or they have a dedicate 15 way VGA port on them for this very purpose. Regards.
