Well the strange thing is that it worked for a few seconds and then went off.

  two possibilities spring to mind
  1) you could have a defective connector on the computer
  2) there may be a fault in the graphics hardware inside your computer.
the fact that the external monitor works well on another computer clearly
rulesout a fult with the external monitor.
  hope that helps a bit.

  regars.

I had an external monitor connected to my NC10, one morning when I turned
on as usual both were displaying fine and then after a few seconds the monitor
display disappeared to a blank screen. I have tried connecting the monitor to
another laptop and it displays fine on the external monitor. Any suggestions
please as clearly it is not a problem with cable or power supply. Strange
thing is that the external monitor when connected to the NC10 displays
initially No Signal and then goes off.
