Hello Jeff

Because you do a course in computing, doesn't necessarily mean that you are
going to be an IT engineer but it is a useful tool to support you in all manner
of employment, i.e. receptionist, administrator, in fact there are few jobs
where computer skills wouldn't be of support. I was a Rehab. Worker but used my
computer to keep notes, to manage my diary, to store minutes, to write reports
etc. I doubt I could have done my job without a computer to support me.

If you are considering employment, then it is worth discussing a funded
course with your D.E.A. at your Job Centre.

I don't know which local society you fall under but they may have been
involved when you were originally registered sight impaired. Also if you call
the RNIB Helpline, they could tell you who your local blind society is.

Who on earth would fund me?

I am of working age, but still I am confused.

I don't want to work in computers just want to use them.

So frustrating, right now.

Thanks for responding this list keeps me sane.

Jeff

Depending on your age, you could possibly even be funded to do a
computer-related course.

Hi Jeff.

Yes, they do exist. It depends what you'd like from the course. Would you
like to undertake training online? would you like an official qualification at
the end? or would you prefer somewhere local?

all the best,

Mo.
