Hi Eleanor, No. I'm saying if the number is available to trueCall, you can zap or starit. if it isn't no, you can't. However, you can configure trueCall so thatit asks for the caller's name first, then rings your phone. If the callerleaves no name, trueCall will say Goodbye and hang up. If the caller leavesa name, trueCall will then say Please wait I'm trying to put you through. At that point your phone rings, you pick it up, then trueCall will play the caller's name as given with their voice and say "is calling you. Press 1 toaccept, or Hash to zap", if you press 1 you will accept the call. If you press hash you will zap it. If you press Star, you will accept it and it will be on your friends and family or star list. If you just hang up, it will go to voice mail. When they ring again, it will ask for their name again if you just hang up the first time. Most scammers will hang up at the point of asking for their name, because they won't give it. This also dispenses with silent calls, because by definition they are silent. The only calls that get through are automaticrecorded calls. These though, as soon as you hear a part of the recording, you can press hash and if the number is not blocked, it's bye bye to them. The beauty of this system, we call it Whisper, is that you are in control whether the number is blocked or not. But remember, anyone on your star list will never even know trueCall is there, it won't even intercept thecall. For any unrecognised number though, whisper willl kick in if you turnit on. I hope this helps. Now if I ignored the call then I would miss out on the appointment. Likewise hospitals tend to withhold their numbers.----- Original Message ----- From: "john gallagher" <john@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, August 11, 2014 11.07 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Computer Scam: Warning > hi there this is why should should use true call this is one of my > zapped > numbers they are trying to get clever now and showing there number. i > never ever pick the phone up to this kind of number or person and it > is> a > shame open reach cannot stop it and we have to buy extra tools to do > so. i > was getting 4 or five calls per day some were genuen piano tuning > calls > but again never ever answer them i say. these people are getting very > very > clever it can be very scarey though but now for me i do not get these > calls because of true call. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Pele West <pele.west@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: Access UK <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Date: Monday, 11 August 2014 10.59 am > Subject: [access-uk] Computer Scam: Warning > 0was 0was 0was Hi Everyone 0was 0was I know most of us know about these scams, but I thought I would share my 0was experience of one. I have to confess that I did not just put the phone 0was down, which I should have done, as I was intrigued to see how things 0was would go. 0was 0was An Asian gentleman rang up last Friday afternoon. He knew my surnameand 0was initial, which is the same as my husband's. He knew our address. 0was 0was I asked for his phone number which was 0was 02033 180712 0was 0was He said his company was 0was Windows Technical Department 0was Windows Service Centre 0was 0was He said he was investigating a cyber security breach and needed to 0was change our computer licence. He gave me the following licence number: 0was 0was 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062 0was 0was He said I should type Assoc from the DOS Command line to see if this 0was number was correct. 0was 0was I put the phone down and did some work with Google. I found an article0was on the net which contained this same licence key and a very similar0was phone number. 0was 0was My computer also has this key. It is shown on a line beginning 0was 0was $diszfsendtotarget7clsid 0was 0was When he rang back I told him what I had found and he evinced surprise. 0was0was He then said that if I did not let him give me a new licence key he0was would take the current key away and my computer would not work again. 0was This would happen in 3 hours. 0was0was I told him he was talking rubbish and he said if I thought he was ascam 0was he could not help me. 0was 0was I have found out from a Technical Support person at Eset that the0was licence keys are issued by MicroSoft to different manufacturers. SoDell 0was have one, Acer have another, and so on. 0was0was Needless to say, I am sending this message from my PC 3 days later.0was 0was I think some people could be rather upset if they were told their 0was machines would not work with their current licence key. 0was 0was Pele West 0was 0was 0was ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- 0was ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] 0was ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: 0was ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx 0was ** and in the Subject line type 0was ** unsubscribe 0was ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the 0was ** immediately-following link:- 0was ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] 0was ** or send a message, to 0was ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq 0was > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] > ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > ** and in the Subject line type > ** unsubscribe > ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the > ** immediately-following link:- > ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] > ** or send a message, to > ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq > > ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
