Hi Roger,

I've found Toshiba remarkably helpful. You will need the
make, model, serial number, etc., to hand when you call
them, but they should be able to provide you with Recovery
CDs. Just explain that the dog chewed up the CDs, or
whatever plausible excuse you can think of.

George.

Subject: [access-uk] Clean Instll of XP Pro

I bought my wife a Toshiba laptop a couple of years ago from
a person who deals in corporate exchanges. The machine has
given no trouble and runs well except it seems to have now
picked up a problem with the mouse running wild over the
screen and applications opening themselves if the machine is
left unattended.

She only uses it for keeping an appointments diary, MS Word
and a suite of card games on, she's fully sighted. She has
no internet access on it not wanting it and using mine if
needed. I've assumed her problems are a Trojan or spyware
but the applications I've tried to load such as Spybot and
Ad-Aware call for internet connection to update the
definitions which she cannot do. I've tried a system restore
and found it had been turned off so no points are available.
I've decided a clean install of her XP Pro would be the best
option but I was given no discs with the machine and the
vendor's phone is not connected. Is there any way I can over
come this problem please. I thought of contacting MS support
with the key number and asking their help but first come to
the experts on this list.

Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
