I forgot to mention the outcome. No, we didn't get the funding, and
the council got kicked out shortly after at the next election, and
then I moved away anyway! So I don't know, they might have got it
back. I must ask!

In retrospect, it wasn't worth all the time and hassle just to see
them squirm, but it did draw local media attention to some of the
council's bizarre funding decisions just before election time
(co-incidental) :)
