There is one of these capture things when signing up for Gmail. I can hear it when it works, but I do not know why it remains mute when I click on it. Any ideas from anyone please? Thanks.

Yes, I agree with you Christine. I had to have three or four
goes at making out what the Skype one said, as it was almost
indecipherable with normal hearing. They use different
strange voices for each word they speak and put lots of
backward running noise and speech in the background. Of
course, it's all to ensure that software can't decipher this
and get access to these sites. Still, for those who can hear
OK, the "Listen" button, when it works, is much better than
nothing.

Those
Stupid things are no use to folks like myself who have big
hearing
problems--we use our braille not our ears, so they are no
use whatsoever and
having someone ring us up is no use either, so what do we do
but give up
using something Else, we could have used had they not used
those stupid
capture things! Christine.

Hello All,

In the last week or so I've been unable to use Ebay
"Questions" and "Messaging", due to them now adopting one
of
those troublesome capcha image requirements. They have put
on these pages a button to activate so that you can
"Listen"
to the text in the image but this does not work--or, at
least, it doesn't work for me. I must assume that my
set-up
for hearing these captcha messages is correct, as I was
only
on Skype yesterday and used one of them there and heard
the
contents of the capcha image with no problem.

Would anyone familiar with Ebay messaging and question
asking features please have a go at this for me to let me
know if they also find the "Listen" button does not work.
All I get is a strange beeping sound out of it.

I have reported this to a Supervisor at Ebay. She said she
would get onto the technical people and ring me back with
information within 24 to 48 hours but I have heard nothing
72 hours later. I fear that they will do nothing about
this
if sufficient people do not contact them about it and put
pressure on for action sooner rather than later. However,
I
do not want to pursue this further if I am the only one
encountering the problem on Ebay.

The problem is, of course, that it is often necessary to
send a question to a seller of a given item for
clarification of what exactly it is you are buying and for
other details. So many sellers provide only a very
inadequate description of items and rely on pictures to
convey information.

Thanks and hear from you soon.

John.
