I noticed over Christmas that my Mother -in-Law was given a Bush personal
handheld DAB Radio . I have only held this for a few minutes but as far as I
could tell from this brief scrutiny it was completely usable without sight and
had tactile buttons for all essential functions.
It is a pocket DAB/FM radio that works with earhones only. It is very slightly
larger than the Goodmans Personal Radio that some on list use but there is only
a tiny difference.
On first feel it may be easier to use than the Goodmans from the Preset point
of view.
It is available from Argos for £39.99
The only slight encumbrance I found was that there is one of those annoying
volume limiters on it, which is not suitable really for peple already deaf,
,so you raise the volume until you hit the restriction and then have to press
the select button to clear the visual warning before you can then continue to
increase the volume further to a level that you can hear clearly. Once you know
this is what is happening you can cope with it though.
I have looked up the details on Argos to those who may be interested but again
with the warning that I have only held this device for a few minutes. Like all
these things sighted help may be useful in setting it up.
