Hi Paul.

No, though you will need to press the blue button immediately the box powers up to enable speech as the box will act as if it is being set up for the first time.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Ibrahim, if you reset, do you lose speech?
Thanks.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Martin.

OK, the speech files reside on the hard drive and the firmware resides on the internal memory of the box. If you reformat your hard drive, you'll lose the speech capability and will have to reinstall it, hence a good reason to have the firmware files on hand which you get from the TVonics website. Reformatting and resetting are two different things; Reformatting will erase the contents of the hard drive including your library, where as resetting deletes all custom settings and channel information hence you have to retune your box.

All the best, Ibrahim.

now I am very interested here. does formatting the disc cause the speech to vanish? or does it come up talking after the format? please could someone write the instructions, with outcomes for us who have no sighted help, so we
can troubleshoot? for instance, what does a box reset do? what does a
reformat do? thanks.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hmm! It's interesting that you still have your recordings, David. Well, I'm glad for you that you do!

I hope I don't have to do this procedure but, maybe, for those who will need to do it, you could write down any details because I'll no doubt come knocking in due course. <Smiles>

Hi all

Okay, I took the plunge and decided to reformat the hard
disk. I was asked to press blue if I wanted the speech,
and fromm then on it guided me through the entire set-up.
Now it is talking better than ever, with no stuttering as
yet.

Surprisingly, my library recordings are still there.

I am very happy. Thanks to all who helped with this, and
I apologise for those I have bored rigid.

Not sure what I would do without you lot sometimes.

Thanks again.

David
