Eleanor, you do realize that the security guard in question could face prosecution if he disallows a guide dog into the place where he works. Note I said guide dog, and not just dog.

I agree Mark but that said any time I go to the Stamples Corner PC World and that would be about once a month, I am immediately approached by the Security Guard and informed that Dogs are not Allowed! I actually have some minutes work to explain that a Guide Dog is actually legally permitted entry. This is difficult for them to comprehend and usually ends with another member of staff coming allong to see what the problem is and saying that of course I can go in with my Guide Dog. I don't mind it once but the fact that they do it every time is rather tiresome indeed.

Ibrahim,

It's alright being disgusted, but they didn't need to give me anything off at all, did they? The work I wanted doing would have taken an engineer the
same amount of time and effort to do wether I was blind or not, as a
customer. The fact that they did, in my opinion, only serves to their
credit. We are very quick to knock retailers and companies for not givving
any ground to help with our problems, so credit where it's due.

Paddy,

I have had two machines from pc world, the latest being just last week.

I received excellent customer service and the sales people knew about the products. Anything I asked the chap didn't know he went off and found out
about.

I asked for the first run of windows to be done and various settings to be made to the new vista eco pc I bought, and they did it for half price as I wanted the work done tue to my disability, not just for the sake of it. I thought that was very good of them. It was indeed set as I had asked for
when it arrived.

Both machines I have had from the same store at Brighton, and I would
recommend them to anyone on the basis of the service I have had.

Hth.

If it came down to cost I'd repair it myself.

I'm only interested because it's much closer and less awkward in getting a
box with a broke machien to the post office.

Hi paddy
I have heard, and friends have had, bad reports of after sales service at
PC
world. They try and fob you off and quality of repairs isn't good. Staff
aren't always knowledgeable about the products they sell. Just a warning.

 Hey folks.

I'm looking at getting a Desktop for the house. I'm buying from PC World
because I couldn't build a machine of some of their specs for the price.
I
generally don't buy components from them but they're PCs are at quite a
nice
price for what you're getting.

Plus for me if something did go wrong in the warranty period I can take a
5 minute taxi to drop it in the store. I bought a machine 2 and a bit
years
ago from an online store

 http://www.cube247.co.uk

Pain in the bum, components kept failing and each time I had to wait up
to
a month to get the machine back from England. having paid for carriage to
the company in the first place.

Anyho, I've been looking at the Packard Bell Iextreme 9610.

I'll be using this machine for server related tasks and installing Win 7 when it's out of Beta. I will probably throw another 4gig into it when I
put Win 7 on it.

Anyone know of a better spec machine from PC World for the same or
similar
price?

Here's a link to view the machines spec and I'll be buying it without the
monitor or added extra software.

 Thanks
