At least with a Stainsby you can write on both sides which you can't do on
the Perkins.

Hello Norman and fellow listers,
I have had my trusty Perkins since 1967, when I was ten years old. My
parents
paid £14 for it. It is still in working order, even though the backspace
key
doesn't always engage and the carriage lever is loose. I mainly use it to
write dymo labels using the metal tape guide but I do occasionally write
other
information, such as updating addresses etc. The wooden case is in good
condition and the dust cover has a few cracks but is still serviceable. I
have tried writing on a stainsby when I was at Dorton House school, not the
easiest way to produce braille.
Best wishes,
Clive Pallett
