Hi.
I don’t use this kit, but they really shouldn’t be using what sounds to me like
an out-of-date tablet. tech moves so fast these days that clients shouldn’t be
expected to buy such old equipment.

hi there jackie rachmond and all
well tomorrow my touch goes back because what ever i do it just will not
connect as a braille terminal tried for hours to get it right. now i
personally know three people with the same problem. i just hope they get it
working for me if not i will do the same as jackie.
my thoughts on the device are
1. it's a fantastic concept
2. keysoft apps work well but need updating to get to where the apex is.
3. the internet is one of the best features of the device.
4. third party apps for me just do not work for me at all.
now my big question and humanware say it is nothing to do with the android
version so question is is this all to do with the android version or would it
all work much better with a much newer and bigger spec tablet.
i am in two minds to what to do about my touch it has already had to have a
new keyboard and now the bluetooth will not work. i paid for it myself and
this is the 18 cell one. i hope not to start a big topic on this but let's be
fair it's very very important to get the right device for you. in my case i
need the word processing and internet and if i can use it as a bluetooth
braille display i can use other apps via my iphone or any other tablet. so,
what else is on the market maybe as mo says next year things will be
happening with note takers for us with braille at a cheaper investment for us
all. i do understand humanware need to make a proffit but today they told my
friend that the touch works flawllessley as a braille terminal well at this
moment in time it does not.

Hi Rajmund
No, it is too unstable and not worth the money, so I have sent it back.

Then do as I have and send it back, citing it doesn't live up to the

hi there i think it's like the iphone how far will it go with upgrades at
least the iphone ones are free what with jaws and window eyes it's a very
costly business keeping up to date. i do understand companies have to make
a
profit but for us blind people we always have to pay out.
going on to another subject humanware have told me that the android version
on the braille touch has nothing to do with the third party apps keep
saying
web view but i just cannot believe that at all. what ever i do with my
touch
after this new upgrade i should be able to connect to my iphone with it and
it will not work at all. i would love to know if this device was running on
a much newer tablet with a much better processor would it make it better.
again i have paid out of my own money #2700 for this device and as a
keysoft
device it has a long way to catch up with an apex and as a tablet with the
third party apps it's terible.

Hi David,
Also, I get the feeling that these annual upgrades don't really amount
too that much. In your, and the lists opinion, when was the last
trueley significant / innovative upgrade? In other words, what new
features or improvements have FS added to Jaws to justify the high
price of these upgrades?

There is a sneaky game which Freedom Scientific play where they
to persuade you to purchase an SMA. Using this process you will getthe scheme.
rights to upgrade to 2 versions of Jaws for pretty much the price you
are currently having to pay for the single price you are now being quoted.
The catch is that you have to purchase this by a deadline to get the
SMA price and you have to have the current version of Jaws already to
qualify for the SMA scheme. Basically as soon as Jaws goes into beta
for the next version it is worth renewing your SMA if you want to stay in
This wis why the upgrade price offered by FS during Summer Exhibitions
is not such a good deal as you might imagine as it of course only
kept you current for a few months and you will then need to purchase
an SMA if you want to keep current without paying the full upgrade price.
I an an reluctant payer of an SMA and I think there are many others. It
appears that Jaws is still the primary cscreenreader according to he** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:-

Hi List,
I had to call Sight and Sound to enquire about an unrelated issue
and while I was there I asked what the price is to upgrade from jaws
17 to the latest 18. I learned that the price is now #150. I
believe that at Sight Village that the upgrade was being sold for
#99.
All I can say is that I wont be purchasing jaws 18 I might just
donate money to NVDA development.
What an absolutely bare faced rip off.
