Hello,
Well, the nightmare, in my opinion, is dust! The u2, at least, on the keys, it looked like cigarette ash, yet, noone smokes in the household. And there was no food or drink, even in the same corridor. If dust falls in next to the cells, not sure how good that really is.

yes but is it not better to play safe.

I would never have drinks or a food, on the same table as
a btraille display.

Hello,
You can keep things next to your unit, as long as you look out.
The worse place you can take them is school. My u2 really didn't
like that one.

Hi Steve

Oh come on, my machine has been looked after like a baby, I won't
have
drinks or food anywhere near my stuff. I take your point and
agree, but for
ordinary wear, which is what I am talking about here, it should
be covered.
Anyway it is sorted, but I do think people need to bear it in
mind.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown

Hi,

It depends on what you mean. I have seen people who decide to
spill coke
into their Braille cells. Should this be covered by warranty? I
personally
don't think so.

All the best

Steve

In my view, there should be no question, a 12 month guarantee is
a 12 month
guarantee, no quibbles at all!

There definitely is a concern if they are going to query
replacing any cells
when a product is still under warranty. What is a guarantee for
if it
doesn't cover one of the most fundamental components? I am happy
with the
outcome, but it is something to bear in mind quite clearly.

It sounds like there's a quality issue that Hims need to address
as a matter
of urgency. Certainly this would put me off buying their braille
displays
etc., Pity because in other most respects they far outshine the
competition
for variability of choice within their note-takers.

Kind regards,

Paul

Subject: [access-uk] Braille display query on Hims products

I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who
contacted me off
list recently regarding the quality of Braille cells on their
Hims products.
I had become aware that several dots on my U2 Mini, which is
approximately
nine months old, were beginning to fade. It seemed random
because they were
better on some occasions and less so on others. I wanted to know
if others
were having an issue with their units, and I found comments very
helpful.

I am happy to report that my machine is now back with me, having
been away
for a month. The Braille display has been replaced on my U2
Mini, and is
now functioning perfectly again.

I do have concerns about the quality of Braille Cells Hims appear
to be
using, and the stance they seem to adopt regarding any
replacement under
warranty. Nevertheless, everything has been resolved to my
satisfaction, so
thanks indeed to everyone who contacted me with their views and
kind words
of support.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Brown
