Hi Eleanor

If you are in employment, then Access To Work is the route most individuals
take to stand any chance of being able to use the assistive technology
available to them. An employer will sometimes help meet the cost, but it
obviously depends on the circumstances and kit being sought.

Jackie
I read with interest what you write and indeed empathy as there are many of us
who would benefit greatly personally from such Braille displays but wow at such
a high cost. For someone like yourself in employment (I am not in
employment) therefore totally ignorant on the fact, can you clarify for myself
and possibly others, what is the situation today with regard to obtaining such
costly equipment through employment channels. I do not refer to your own
personal situation and the fact that you have told us that soon you will be
moving to another part of the country but generally what the situation is in
meeting the cost of the equipment in employment. Just as older equipment can
become redundant due to new innervations, then surely one would not be obliged
not to move forward with the newly available expensive equipment.
