George's suggestion is a good one. Having a similar Brother machine I know you can press the front panel button twice within a second and get a print out of the status. The main thing that is going to tell you is that the actual printer is functioning. That will then leave you with Windows. It may be that you have multiple references to the same printer, but however only one of these will work properly. The clue will be that one of these printers have a number of queued jobs that have not complete in them. If so delete them and if there are multiple references to the same printer try one of the other ones and see if that works. If it does remove the other non-working references and set the one that does work to be your default. Regards. This might indicate something which could be identified in the manual. I found in the past that Brother themselves were quite helpful, and indeed on one occasion they sent an engineer out as the model I had had a recall on it. George. Yes, there is paper and toner is ok etc. For subsequent print attempts the printer does not respond. In devices & printers it just lists that the printer is printing and troubleshooting returns no problems. I hope this is more descriptive!! Thanks, Mike ________________________________ From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of George Bell Sent: 17 January 2011 00:31 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Bother with Brother printer Hi MIke, Sorry to say this, but "playing up" and "mucking about" doesn't really give us much of a clue as to what could be wrong. Could you be a tad more specific? George. ________________________________ From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Moore Sent: 16 January 2011 23:10 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Bother with Brother printer Hello, I have a Brother HL2140 laser printer and just lately it has started playing up. I am running Windows 7, 64bit operating system and it had the original drivers installed (for 32bit systems) and it worked well. It failed to print a photo last week and I decided to download the Win7 64bit driver/software pack to see if it would help. It is still mucking about and I have deleted/uninstalled the printer and driver and re-installed but still no joy.... Anybody??!!
