Yusuf,
Yes this is exactly the issue I'm referring too- I think you commented on my
previous post on this a while ago too!!
I'd not realised it was a more specific issue with any headset and trying to
use it in Zoom for both Jaws / voice. Interestingly I've just tried using
Audacity and was able to record something using the headset I have on Bluetooth
.
I'll take a look at the headset you mention - the annoying thing is the headset
I have (HPWow) is very good for sound quality and comfort otherwise and no
issue just using to listen to audio, Youtube etc. but it's only when I come to
try using Zoom, Teams etc. I have the issue but as you've explained this is a
wider issue.
Thanks again for your input,
Sarah

Subject: [access-uk] Re: Bluetooth headsets
Sarah, are you looking for headphones which also include a microphone? I ask
because you mention Zoom etc, but not a microphone. If that is what you want,
Bluetooth won't work because of the limitations of dealing with audio outputs
from different sources and sound input via the Mic. And if it sounds like I
don't really know what I'm talking about that's because I don't. What I do know
is that when I attempted to use my Plantronics Bluetooth headphones on Zoom or
Teams I couldn't have both Jaws and the sound from Zoom coming out of the
headphones and use the microphone at the same time. After doing some research I
found this was a problem with Windows10 and Bluetooth.
You need to look for headphones that use wireless rather than Bluetooth. The
specs will say something like 2.4 GHZ wireless via a USB transmitter and
sometimes you will see that they also support Bluetooth for connection to a
mobile phone in addition to a computer.
I ended up purchasing the CORSAIR VIRTUOSO WIRELESS RGB SE: I've pasted the
notes I made on it when I was looking around. Good battery life (20 hours),
great Mic 'one of the best', £149.99, heard it demonstrated in a review it was
acceptable and on a par with the one below, a different review suggests the
headband might get uncomfortable after an hour. Since then I've found that it's
perfectly fine for meetings, but I don't use it for listening to films/radio
plays/music as the headphones are rather loose. There are controls on the
headphones themselves, on/off and volume as well as a mute button on the
detachable microphone. I've never installed the software and so don't know how
accessible it is, but I've never needed to use it either.
Hope that helps
Yusuf

Subject: [access-uk] Bluetooth headsets
Hi All,
I'm after some recommendations for a a stereo bluetooth headset that works with
Windows 10. I bouth some a while ago but have had all sorts of issues with
getting them to work wirelessly when using Zoom / Teams etc so am after a pair
that definitely work.
Using Jaws 18 with latest version of Windows 10.
Many thanks,
Sarah
