Colin,
I bought a similar device for my Bose portible dock, it only works while
plugged into the connector and I have to pair to it each time to connect.
It is called an iSync bought from Amazon.

Hi All,
I bought a device that is meant to sit in my Bose I Dock to give it
Bluetooth connectivity - the device name is called I Wave.
My question is if this device is working correctly should my phone and I pod
be able to detect the I Wave even when it is not plugged into the dock.
I ask as trying to determine whether unit is faulty or whether it is not
compatible with my dock as it says it is not compatible with series 1 dock
but mine has no indication what series it is.
