I thought that was to do with the risk of viruses when sharing files. Peter Holdstock wrote:
Ah didn't see the message about downloading at your own risk. Interestingly my understanding is that here in the UK it's not illegal to download copyrighted material. The reason so many people have been taken to court is because using P2P networks to download the files causes them to also be available for others to download inadvertently from your own computer and therefore is classed as distribution. On that basis I think it would be them who would be in trouble, not us for downloading the files. Obviously different countries will have different laws.Peter -----Original Message----- From: ari Sent: Monday, February 14, 2011 7:48 PM To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: Blind Mice Update Hi PeterI'm not saying it was illegal, don't know, but I am guessing so, because if you read the disclaimer on the site, all that about downloading it at yourown risk, and also, they'd probably have had to make deals with so many parties and probably different studios that I just always thought it wasprobably. Like when you scan a book and send it round to other blind people, not really legal but everyone does it because it is necessary. ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq__________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 5874 (20110214) __________The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
