Hi

I see on another thread that wireless security is being mentioned and as we
just had a lecture on the subject I thought I'd share three basic tips that
will hopefully help. But it is important to remember that wireless is about
broadcasting your activity and anyone with range could attempt to either
observe or engage with your network should they desire. The likelihood of
someone pulling up outside of your house with advanced hardware and software
like sharkwire to access your network is unlikely. But you don't want to
leave your front door wide open either.

 Step One:
Change your SSID, typically this is the manufacturer of the router / access
point.

Step Two:
Hide your SSID, so it is not immediately apparent that your network exists.

Step Three:
Choose and employ an encryption method. WEP is not very secure but if you
wanted to use a ieee802.11B device. With the above steps would do for a
domestic situation. But if you don't want to use a wireless B device but a
wireless G or N then use WPA.
